Activities of the NSC "Institute of Metrology" in the field of standardization

In accordance with legislation on standardization (specifically the Law of Ukraine "On Standardization" No. 1315-VII dated June 5, 2014), the NSC "Institute of Metrology" is authorized to:

- conduct activities related to the development of national normative documents;

- carry out research and development work to create national standards—harmonized with international or European standards—via translation and approval by the relevant technical standardization committee, in accordance with the National Standardization Work Program;

- provide scientific, methodological, informational, and consulting services in the field of standardization to business entities upon their request.

 

Specialists at the NSC "Institute of Metrology" continuously work on developing new national standards and amendments to existing ones, as well as creating national standards harmonized with international or European normative documents; they also participate in drafting legal acts and technical regulations concerning metrology and metrological activities.

The NSC "Institute of Metrology" serves as the secretariat for Technical Standardization Committee TC 63, "Metrology and Measurements."

Within the scope of its activities, TC 63 is authorized to:

1) participate in the work of relevant technical standardization committees of international and regional standardization organizations;

2) carry out work on the development and approval of national standards, codes of practice, and amendments thereto;

3) participate in formulating the national standardization work program;

4) carry out work on the review and revision of national standards and codes of practice that it originally developed;

5) submit and approve proposals regarding the withdrawal and reinstatement of national standards, codes of practice, and amendments thereto.

 

TC 63 participates as an observer member in the work of international technical committees/subcommittees for standardization under ISO and IEC, specifically: ISO/TC 12 "Quantities, units, symbols, conversion factors and tables"; ISO/TC 69/SC 6 "Measurement methods and results"; ISO/TC 19 "Preferred numbers"; and IEC/TC 25 "Quantities and units."
