Metrology

  • research in the field of legal metrology;
  • participation in developing the concepts and programs of the state metrological system development;
  • research activity on the development of scientific and normative fundamentals of the state metrological system;
  • guidance and organizational assurance of the unity of measurements and transfer of the sizes of measurement units to territorial bodies, departmental metrological services, enterprises and organizations;
  • expertise of the regulations on the main and basic organizations of metrological services of the central bodies of executive power at their coordination with NSC “Institute of Metrology”;
  • organization and conducting of the certification and registration of measurement procedures;
  • scientific and methodic supervision on authorization and certification in the state metrological system, participation in the performance of these activities;
  • determination of the ways of implementing the measurement uncertainty into metrological practice;
  • scientific and methodic assistance in developing the procedures of verification and calibration of measuring instruments, measurement procedures;
  • organizational and methodic activity on maintaining and applying national and secondary standards of measurement units;
  • establishment of measurement methods, systems of transferring the sizes of measurement units from standards to working measuring devices;
  • participation in international scientific and technical cooperation, organization of comparisons of national standards with international standards and standards of other countries;
  • fulfillment of the functions of the Main Сentre of the State service of reference materials of the composition and properties of substances and materials;
  • participation in the activity on state metrological supervision in accordance with the accreditation field (authorization);
  • metrological certification of measuring channels of measuring information systems;
  • metrological certification of measuring devices not designed for mass production;
  • maintenance of the Register of national, primary and secondary standards of measurement units;
  • consulting on the question of valid metrological rules and regulations and implementation of the Law of Ukraine “On metrology and metrological activity”;
  • preparation of informational documentation on valid normative documents in metrology;
  • supplying metrological services of the central bodies of executive power, enterprises and organizations, territorial bodies with informational documentation in metrology.

Standardization

  • development of normative documents in the field of metrology;
  • updating of valid norms, regulations and procedures in the field of metrology, their harmonization with international documents;
  • development of normative documents according to the plan of national standardization;
  • metrological examination of normative and other documents;
  • expertise of intergovernmental and international normative documents for the purpose of determining the appropriateness of their application in Ukraine.
